2024 High-end Forum on Chinese Modernization and Social Governance Successfully Held

On October 26, the High-end Forum on Chinese Modernization and Social Governance, co-organized by the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua University and the School of Social and Public Administration of East China University of Science and Technology, was successfully held at Tsinghua University's Xiong Zhixing Building. Guided by the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the forum explored the new opportunities and challenges for urban governance in the digital era under the theme of "Urban Governance in the Digital Era". More than 20 relevant leaders, experts and scholars, and business executives from government agencies, research institutes, and tech companies discussed experience in urban governance, and shared research results in frontier areas.
The forum began with speeches by Prof. Wang Tianfu, Dean of the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University, and Prof. He Xuesong, Dean of the School of Social and Public Administration of East China University of Science and Technology. Dean Wang Tianfu expressed his thanks to the participants, and hoped that this forum could promote in-depth exchanges among the academia, government agencies and tech companies. Dean He Xuesong envisaged ways of future social governance, and noted the need to involve new knowledge and technologies in social governance, and at the same time not to discard humanism.
At the end of the forum, Prof. Wang Tianfu summarized the all-day meeting. He emphasized that the forum established an excellent platform for exchanges among the industry, universities and research institutes, where the participants had heated discussions that inspired each other. He also encouraged the participants to cooperate and share resources with each other after the forum, and looked forward to more remarkable outcomes in next year's meeting, thus contributing new strength to Chinese modernization and social governance.
