Alumni Roundtable Forum: Ties Created through Department Of Sociology and Renewed through Academic Exchanges
On the afternoon of April 27, the "Alumni Roundtable Forum - Tsinghua China Social Survey Symposium" was held in the multi-function hall of Xiong Zhixing Building, and was attended by a number of alumni of the Department of Sociology who are active in the academic world.
The forum was presided over by Prof. Sun Xiulin from the Department of Sociology, who first welcomed the alumin back to their alma mater and the Department of Sociology for this social survey symposium.
At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Shen Yuan from the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua University delivered a speech titled "Tsinghua Social Survey in Recent Years", reviewing the academic achievements of Tsinghua Social Survey in recent years, summarizing the compelling features of Tsinghua Social Survey, and encouraging the alumni to contribute to new academic styles in sociology.
The alumni then gave speeches on their own research fields, and Professors Sun Feng and Liu Junqiang, Associate Professors Jin Jun and Li Xiaoyu from the Department of Sociology had a discussion with the alumni.
And finally, the symposium was wrapped up by Prof. Wang Tianfu, Dean of the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. Prof. Wang once again expressed his heartfelt thanks to the alumni of the Department of Sociology for returning to the university for academic exchanges, emphasizing that the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua has a long tradition of social survey and that the alumni have inherited and carried forward this fine tradition in their respective research practices and academic pursuits. He hoped that the alumni could come back to the university often and make common progress, as the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua University is forever the home for all alumni!
